Commissions
Outrigger Financial is generally paid by product providers when a recommendation we make is implemented. This is usually through commission. Commission amounts vary depending on the provider and product type.
Initial Commission
A percentage of the value of your mortgage amount, investment contributions, or insurance premiums may be paid to Outrigger Financial once the recommendation has been implemented.
Ongoing Commission
A percentage of the value of your mortgage balance, investment balance, or insurance premiums may be paid to Outrigger Financial on an ongoing basis, usually calculated monthly (and for some insurance products, at renewal).
We will disclose to you the commission we expect to receive before you decide whether to proceed with any recommendation.
How We Are Paid
We generally do not charge fees to clients for our advice. Instead, we are paid commission by the product provider when you take up a product or implement a recommendation.
Where fees do apply (for example, in special situations), we will agree these with you in advance and confirm them in writing.
Conflicts of Interest or Other Incentives
Outrigger Financial works with a selected range of product providers and lenders. This means our recommendations will generally be limited to the providers we work with.
Because we may receive commission, this could create a conflict of interest. We take this seriously and have processes in place to ensure our advice prioritises your interests.
How We Manage Any Conflicts of Interest
To ensure our advisers prioritise our clients’ interests:
- We follow an advice process designed to ensure our recommendations are appropriate, based on your goals and circumstances.
- We maintain registers of conflicts of interest and the gifts and incentives we receive. These registers are monitored regularly and additional training is provided as required.
- We undertake an annual independent Compliance Assurance Review.
Our Duties and Obligations To You
We are bound by the duties of the Financial Markets Conduct Act (431I, 431K, 431L and 431M) to:
- Meet the standards of competence, knowledge, and skill set out in the Code of Conduct
- Give priority to the clients’ interests
- Exercise care, diligence, and skill
- Meet the standards of ethical behaviour, conduct, and client care set out in the Code of Conduct
- Provide education for clients on any financial products that we recommend
