This is where the real money is. Try $50 and look at what it does to the interest.

A guide only, not personalised financial advice and not a quote. Real repayments depend on your lender, your structure, fees, and how often your rate is fixed. A change of a fraction of a percent moves these numbers a long way. Book a free chat.

Worth knowing

Two things this calculator makes obvious

  • Fortnightly is not the same as monthly halved. Paying half the monthly amount every fortnight means 26 payments a year instead of 24, so you make an extra month of payments without really noticing. Over 30 years that is years off the loan.
  • The extra payment field is the whole game. Early extra payments come almost entirely off the principal, so they save interest for every year that follows.
